Mildred McGillis

Mildred McGillis, daughter of the late Felix and Mary-Jane Beauchamp (Bedard), at the age of 86, passed away peacefully at the Deep River & District Hospital, with family by her side on Monday, January 21, 2019.

Beloved wife of her late husband Dalton McGillis, cherished mother of her late son William (Bill) McGillis and loving grandmother to her late grandson Stephan McGillis. A loving and caring mother of her daughers and son-in-laws Bonni (Greg) Morel and Cynthia (Lawrence) Lachance and daughter-in-law Charlene (Terry) Dickerson of Chalk River. Caring and loving grandmother of Shelly (Darren) Schankula of North Bay, Tina (Jason) Leach of Petawawa; Clint (Julie) McGillis of Chalk River, Ashley (Andrew) Porringa of Hanmer, Courtney McGillis (John Hosbons) of Chalk River, Niki Lachance (Don Anderson) of Gatineau, and Lindsay (Andrew) LaPlante of Chalk River.  Forever missed and loved by her 13 great grandchildren; Jessica & Kyle Leach, Katie & Timothy Schankula, Mason and Leighton McGillis, Ava and Alivia Porringa, Tegan and Tate Pelletier, Carson and Mia LaPlante, Dana Anderson; and her 2 step great-granddaughters Bianca and Caetlin Anderson. Never forgotten and forever loved by Angeline Thomson.

Dear sister of Theresa (Paul) Bureau of Pembroke and Beatrice (the late Bill) Crawford of Deep River.  Predeceased by 4 brothers, Joe (Martha), Gerald (Leona), Isadore (Dorothy) and Trefle (Laura) Beauchamp and 9 sisters, Violet (Lawrence) Arbour, Mary (Anthony) Beaulieau, Agnes (Elmer) Ladouceur, Evelyn (Art) Paquette and (Ed) Ladouceur, Dorothy (Bill) Chartrand, Nora (Albert) Seafried, Grace (Desmond) Andrews, Irene (Bud) Gonneau and Rita (Lionel) Pepin.

Family and friends may call at the Valley Funeral Home, Deep River on Monday, January 28, 2019 from 10:00 to 10:50 am.  A reading of her life will be celebrated in the chapel at 11:00 am. Interment of cremated remains will be in the Forest View Cemetery in Chalk River at a later date.

In lieu of flowers or expression of sympathy, donations to the Deep River & District Hospital Foundation would be greatly appreciated. Funeral arrangements made by Valley Funeral Home, Deep River, Ontario.

Millie shared the room with me at the hospital and we formed a quick friendship. We shared a lot of laughs together. She was very nice and so smart. Her family treated my daughters and me with great kindness. She was a lovely women. I regret that she left at such an early age. My sympathy to her family.

Growing up on Ottawa street Millie was always nice to all us kids. I will miss her personally as she was so good to my family. Rest in peace.
