I was a previous board member for Deep River Community Foundation and Gwen was the chairperson. Incredible lady who inspired many and brought forth forward thinking and direction for the Foundation. Sincere sympathy on your profound loss. She was a grand lady.

Dear Doug and family,
Gwen always contributed a great deal to the community.  I worked with her for several years at the Scoence Academy and during those years, the science Academy thrived, thanks, in large part to Gwen’s hard work.
The Deep River Community lost a great lady when Gwen died and we are saddened by her death but grateful for her long life.
Our deepest sympathy to you, Doug and the family.🌸Mary and Paul Fehrenbach

Janet and I were very sad to hear of Gwen's passing.

Gwen was a valued scientific contributor to the SNO project, using her
expertise in radiochemistry to measure ultra-low levels of
radioactivity in components for the detector, a very important aspect
of material selection and quality control necessary for our success.
She was an author on our major scientific papers and contributed over
many years.

She and Doug have also been personal friends of ours for over 50 years
and welcomed us to Deep River when we arrived in 1969. We will miss
our regular meetings with them during our summer visits to Deep River.

Gwen had a long term interest in the Deep River community and made
many contributions, including through her work with the Community
Foundation and the Science Academy.

We would like to express our sincere sympathy to Doug and to the family.

Mr. Milton and family, I was so very saddened to hear of Gwen's passing, and offer my deepest sympathies to you all.  I had the great pleasure of being invited into the Milton home and worked with Gwen and Doug for a few years.  I learned so much from this wonderful lady with a fiery personality.  She taught me so much over the few years I worked for her.  She shared with me her love of gardening, politics, her career, community involvement, cooking, and most of all her love and pride in her family.  I admired so many of her qualities and think of her often, especially when I'm baking and using one of the many "tricks" she had shared with me.   She was a very proud and classy woman with so much to offer those around her.  I know that she will be missed greatly by all of those who had the pleasure of knowing her and especially by her family and wonderful, loving husband Doug.

I was said to hear that Gwen had passed away, but glad to know that she had such a long and productive life, truly a wonderful adventure.  In Oxford we were also involved in radioassays and radiopurity measurements for SNO, and Gwen was a wonderful person to work with, always helpful and insightful.  My heartfelt condolences to all her family and friends.  She will be missed, but that is a good thing, because it means she made a difference while she was with us.

I worked for Gwen and Doug for about one and a half years before they moved to Ottawa. I learned a lot from her and was always impressed and respected Gwen's never-give-up spirit. I could tell that she was always treasuring her life and did her best to make a difference to the world.
Once she told me that her father had lost hearing at the war, but after he came back to Canada, he became a lawyer and helped lots of people around him regardless of his handicap. I guess he was her beautiful role model and led her to make such a successful life with lots of love and respect.
My sincere condolences to all the family.
