Brian Vollmer

Passed away suddenly at his home in Deep River on February 19, 2026 at the age of 79.

Brian was born January 4, 1947 in Ottawa Ontario. He spent his early years growing up in Deep River then later in Ottawa during his working career, but returned in retirement enjoying a quiet life in town and summers at the family cottage nearby on the Ottawa River.  They say “You can take the boy out of the valley but you can’t take the valley out of the boy “. This is where he was most happy.

After graduating from Mackenzie High School, Brian attended McMaster University and Carleton University studying physics and engineering leading to becoming a professional engineer. He had a rewarding career as an engineer with the Department of National Defence as a specialist in marine propulsion systems.

Brian is survived by his son Mathew, brothers Robin (Cathy), Christopher (Joanne) and nephews Mark and Luc.

Brian was artistically gifted, unconventional and an intelligent and kind eccentric. He will be profoundly missed.
