Carmel Tallon Obituary

Carmel Tallon

Retired Teacher Renfrew County Catholic District School Board

Long time member of Deep River Golf Club and Pembroke Golf Club

It is with profound sadness that we announce the sudden death of our beloved mother Carmel, at her residence in Pembroke, on Monday April 20, 2020 of an apparent heart attack.  She was predeceased by her loving husband Gerald with whom she shared 48 happy years of marriage as well as by her parents John and Mildred Cain and her brother Bert Cain. Carmel was the proud and devoted mother of two sons: Patrick (Roxann) of L’Orignal and Shawn, Ottawa. Shawn’s daughter, Maura, was her dearly loved granddaughter.  She is survived by her brother, Rev. Garry Cain and sister Beverley Egan (James) both of Pembroke as well as sisters-in-law Ann Cain, Pembroke, Adelle Tallon, Pembroke and Dorothy Soltys (Jerry) North Bay.  Also left to mourn her passing are her aunt, Joan Hannaberry, Quyon as well as several caring nieces, nephews, and many close friends both in Pembroke and Deep River where she and Gerald made their home for many years.

Sincerest thanks to First Responders and Dr. Evelyn Weatherston, along with Chris and Paul Neville for tending to Carmel in her residence. Additionally, the family would like to thank Murray Griese of the Valley Funeral Home for guiding us through this difficult time.

Due to the constraints of the current pandemic, a private burial service of cremated remains will be held at the Deep River Municipal Cemetery.  A Memorial Mass at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church in Deep River will be celebrated at a later date.

Carmel contributed to her community in many ways and was a frequent volunteer at Marianhill Seniors Home in Pembroke. In lieu of flowers, a contribution in Carmel’s memory to the Marianhill Foundation would be appreciated  https://marianhill.ca/marianhill-foundation/
