Audrey Elizabeth (Liz) Mitchel
At Deep River on Thursday, April 15 2021. Liz Mitchel (nee Salter) of Laurentian Hills at the age of 77 years. Beloved wife of Ronald Mitchel. Loving mother of Brent Mitchel and his wife Pamela of Whitby and Marnie Mitchel and her husband Brian Gray of Ottawa. Cherished grandmother of Emma, Corinne, Lauren and Daphne Mitchel, and Vivienne and Camilla Gray. Dear sister of David Salter (Gayla Provençal) of Cold Stream, BC and Valerie Harris and her husband Trevor of Edmunds, Washington.
Born in Calgary and raised in New Westminster BC, she left home on a world adventure at 18, living and travelling to New Zealand, Australia and Europe before returning to Vancouver. Her brother Dave suggested she join him at a SCUBA club meeting where she met Ron. They married in 1968, moved to Los Angeles for two years, then settled in Deep River.
Well-known in the Deep River community as the secretary of the recreation department she registered a generation of kids in their swimming and skating lessons.
Her cottage in Laurentian Hills on the Ottawa River was her happy place, where she and Ron moved full-time in 1998. She loved the river, her garden, and her friends and family.
Respecting Liz's request, cremation has taken place. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. In memoriam donations to the Deep River Community Foundation or the Deep River and District Hospital Foundation would be gratefully appreciated. Funeral arrangements entrusted to the Valley Funeral Home, Deep River.
