Ethel Elizabeth Lee (nee: Ziebell)
At the Deep River District Hospital on Monday, September 8, 2025 after a brief battle with cancer. Beloved wife of the late Keith George Lee. Loving mother of Cindy and David Lee both of Deep River.
Ethel is survived by her brother Karl (Mae) of Round Lake and predeceased by her sister Paula Merkley (Bruce) of Portland, Ontario. Ethel was the daughter of the late Verner and Frances Ziebell of Pembroke.
Ethel lived a very happy life in Deep River for 65 years and was married to Keith for 58 years.
Mom had unlimited energy, a Zest for life and would always say “What are we up to today?” and “What needs to be done?” Ethel enjoyed spending time at the Cottage with family and neighbours. She was the Team Lead on many Projects and Renovations. Her interests included cooking, gardening, fishing and “Going up the Menet.”
She was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Deep River. Ethel was a volunteer at Whistle Stop, DRDH Auxiliary for 42 years and enjoyed talking to all of her customers.
Mom was a passionate shopper, loved all things purple and loved Christmas. She had an eye for fashion including colour-coordinated clothing and jewellery.
She was the Centennial Queen of Pembroke in 1958.
Ethel and family would like to thank the doctors & nurses at the Deep River and District Hospital and The Ottawa Hospital. Respecting Ethel’s wishes cremation has taken place.
