Frances Rose McElroy
Beloved mother of Bob McElroy (Diana). Predeceased by sister Jeanne and brother Roy of London England. Frances passed away peacefully at the North Renfrew Long-Term Care Centre on February 24, 2021, in her 99th year. She was born and lived her early life in London England. In 1943 she married George Eldon McElroy, a Canadian soldier stationed in Britain for the war effort. Their only child, Robert George Charles (Bob), was born in 1945. At the time of Bob’s birth, George was on rotation back to Canada and the family were not united until after the war, with Frances and Bob arriving in Canada in the summer of 1946. As a military family, they moved frequently, living in Ottawa / Halifax / Ottawa / Petawawa / Kingston / Ottawa / Petawawa and finally moving to Oakville in 1962. George retired from the military shortly thereafter and Oakville (Saxon Rd.) became their home. George passed away in 1994 and Frances moved to Deep River in 2000 to be closer to Bob and Diana. Frances settled into a house on Summit St. and lived there until moving into the North Renfrew Long-Term Care Centre in 2015. Bob and Diana would like to express their heartfelt thanks to the staff of the North Renfrew Long-Term Care Centre for their excellent, friendly care and for ensuring her life there was happy and comfortable. She loved the home-like environment, the many opportunities to sing, the cookies and ice cream, and her endless cups of tea. Following her wishes and considering the current pandemic, she will be interred next to George in St. Jude’s Cemetery in Oakville in a private service. There will be no visitation. Memorial donations to the North Renfrew Long-Term Care Services Inc., while not expected, would be very much appreciated. Arrangements entrusted to the Valley Funeral Home, Deep River.
