Georgia Roberts
It is with deep sorrow that we mourn the passing of Georgia Roberts (née MacCready) in her 94th year. Georgia was born in St. Stephen, NB and attended Acadia University where she received her Bachelor of Teaching degree. She then joined the Canadian Air Force in Quebec achieving the rank of Flight Lieutenant. Georgia further pursued and received her Masters in Teaching degree from the University of New Brunswick and spent her career teaching special needs students.
Georgia is survived by her loving daughter Deborah, stepson Glenn and stepdaughter Moira, nephews Chris (Sheila) and Ian (Carrie), niece Anne (Marc), grandchildren, Elysse and Chance, grandnephews Bradley and Mileak, grandnieces, Kaitlin, Emma and Tynika, along with great grandchildren Scarlett, Asher and Griffin. Georgia was predeceased by her husband Kenneth, sister Rosalie and brother Douglas.
Georgia was a very active member of the Presbyterian Church and the IODE and loved spending time at the cottage with family. Her wit and humour will be greatly missed as will the date days she enjoyed with Deborah.
Georgia fought a brave battle with dementia and her daughter Deborah gave up her career to care for her mother full time. Ultimately, Deborah moved Georgia from St. Stephen to Deep River so they could both be closer to family.
Respecting Georgia’s wishes, cremation has taken place and she will be laid to rest at the family plot in the St. Stephen Rural Cemetery at a future date.
The family wishes to express their heartfelt and deep gratitude to the staff at the Four Seasons Lodge, especially Kerry, Bonnie and Anne, and the medical staff at the Deep River and District Hospital for their compassionate care.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Georgia’s name to the Four Seasons Lodge in Deep River or the SPCA.
