Gilberte Lucille Stoute (nee Brule) died peacefully on January 31st, 2025 at Deep River Long-Term Care, surrounded by family. Beloved child of David Joseph Brule, Matilde Brule (nee Montreuil) of North Bay, Ontario. Born February 9th, 1936, youngest of 10 children, Gilberte (affectionately known as “Butch” to all her family), grew up on the family farm in the house her father built, surrounded by a rich and full extended French-Canadian family and community. Gil’s family were known for helping others in need and Gil continued that when she moved to Deep River as a new bride in 1956 with her husband Richard Stoute (originally from Trinidad). Three children came shortly after, Michael Stoute (deceased), Natashia (Jeremy Hanna), Pierre (Tammy Janz). Loving Grandmother to Adam Hanna (Julie), Olivia Hanna, Philip Hanna (Mahtab), Mary Hanna, Charlene Janz (Jason). Loving Great-Grandmother to Daniel, Addison, Lilah, Alana, Leo, Toli, Sophia, Nora, Lumi; and loving adoptive Grandmother to “her Boys” (Neil & Ian Thomson). Gil’s life was filled with tennis, cards, Florida, gardening, parties, and reading. Gil was most generous with her home and loved it best when her large family visited. Deepest gratitude to the nurses, support staff and doctors at the Deep River Long-Term Care. A special thanks to Jennifer Hilton for going above and beyond for my mom. Drop-in Celebration of life, Monday February 3rd 2pm, at 1 Dalton Street, Deep River.
