Valiquette, Hilda Elizabeth (nee Hunt)
Hilda Valiquette passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 28th, 2019, in her 93rd year, at the North Renfrew Long Term Care Centre after a full life, well lived. Hilda was born in Dacre, Ontario, on July 3rd, 1926 to Loretto and John Patrick Hunt. She was a teacher by trade but her greatest occupation was that of wife and wonderful mother to her seven grateful children. Hilda was a woman of strong faith, a beautiful quilter, a great baker and cook, a golfer, a cross country skier, a bridge player and she travelled extensively with family and friends. She loved to get daily updates on her grandchildren and great grandchildren. Hilda married Allan Valiquette on August 10, 1948 and they lived an active married life until Allan passed away on May 22, 1990. She was a kind, generous mother to Mickey (Dale), Jane Scott (Drew), Colleen Payer (Dave), Mary Lou Law (Glenn), Paula Culhane (Michael) , James (Shirley ) , Lorna Steer (John ). Grandma Hilda will be fondly remembered by her 17 grandchildren and 19 great grandchildren . Hilda is survived by her sisters Irene McCarthy and Louise (Howard) Bradley and was predeceased by her brothers Jack, Jim ,Mick and her sister Patsy. A Funeral mass will be celebrated at 11 a.m. on Saturday, May 4 at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church , Deep River followed by a Celebration of her Life.
