Jim left us without warning, I’m betting that in his head, he went out singing a song, or telling a joke or thinking of how he might tease one of the wonderful staff at Miramichi.
My brother was a very special man. He took so much delight in being part of a big extended family, and was eagerly looking forward to a promised 80th birthday party later this year, in the hopes of seeing many of his cousins, caseworkers and friends all together for a special event.
He was kind, big-hearted, and caring, and while there were many things that were challenging for him, there were far more that he excelled at when it came to relating to others or remembering the lyrics to just about every song he’d ever heard.
Jim never stopped missing those who predeceased him: William Dunn (father), Evelyn Dunn (mother), and Mary his beloved little sister who died in 1954. He leaves behind, to enjoy the memories, his sister Joanne Dunn (Allgoewer), two nephews Matthew Villeneuve (Isabelle Morin) and Andrew Allgoewer (Susan Hickman), and his much beloved grand-niece and nephew—Mara Morin and Vincent Villeneuve, in addition to many cousins, many Community Living staff and friends, and the caregivers who have done so much for him at Miramichi Lodge.
We’ll have a memorial in the Spring, and sing some tunes, tell some stories, and remember, oh so fondly, our Jim.
Should you wish to make a donation in Jim’s memory, both Community Living Upper Ottawa Valley, and Miramichi Lodge have provided excellent care and support to Jim for many years.
