Jo-Anne Evraire Obituary

Our beautiful mother, Jo-Anne Marie Evraire (nee O’Shaughnessy), passed away peacefully on Oct. 24th at her home in Deep River, Ontario surrounded by her loving husband of over 61 years, William James Evraire, her three daughters and her best friend Louise.

Born in Parry Sound, Nov. 6th 1942, Mom was a brilliant, creative woman who radiated positivity (Hello World!) and enjoyed life to the fullest especially when riding the waves of the Ottawa River with “Captain Bugs.” She was the ultimate hostess who loved to entertain, a whirlwind of efficiency at work and home, beauty queen (Miss Nickel District of Greater Sudbury), talented artist, great athlete (esp. swimming), and bright light to all those lucky to have come into her life. Though pancreatic cancer finally took her from us, Mom was a spunky fighter right to the end and promised to come back to visit us next week as a ghost on Halloween - most likely wearing one of her signature colourful scarves.

Predeceased by parents Kathleen and Joseph, sisters Marilyn and Barbara, she will be missed dearly by our Dad, daughters Suzanne (Karlheinz), Michelle (Mark), Rhonda (Chris), her seven grandsons Keiler, Ryan, and Matias Totz, Brad and Derek Sobczak, William and Christopher Earle, her two remaining siblings (Patricia and Donald), and many nieces and nephews.

We would like to thank Mom’s wonderful support team, including her chemo companion Jo, Nurse Rebecca, Dr. Quenneville, Dr. Ceponis and many caring and compassionate staff.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, May 9th 2026 from 2-5 pm at the Hexagon, Deep River. To honour Joanne’s vibrant spirit, guests are encouraged to wear colour in keeping with the celebratory tone.
