RENAUD, Rodney Jordan
At the Deep River and District Hospital on Saturday, January 6, 2024 after a two year battle with cancer.
Jordan Renaud, age 67 years. Beloved husband of the late Wendy Renaud (nee Clayton). Loving father of Jackie Scott of Embrun and Nick Scott of Vietnam. Cherished grandfather of Catherine Lavigne.
Jordan was born and grew up in Deep River. Early career choices included periods with Bell Canada in Ottawa and then in the support staff group at the old Canadian Nuclear Research Laboratories in nearby Chalk River.
His hobby that was working on clocks became his profession 35 years ago when he retired “after a dozen years in industry”. A full four-page August 2014 ‘print’ interview with Jordan is available online at eternaltools.com.
For the past twenty-five years Jordan has been a valuable member of the Board of The Canadian Clock Museum in Deep River, and in his role as museum Conservator he restored several older clocks in its broad collections. He will also be remembered by many private customers for his careful and thorough restoration of their clocks.
His passion was working on 18th and 19th century British clocks. He took professional courses but was also self trained, typically using the old tried and true methods and clock repair tools that he had acquired. He was known to say on occasion that he wished he had lived in the late 1800s.
Jordan is fondly remembered by many local and distant friends and by his clock collecting colleagues in the Ottawa area.
Respecting Jordan’s wishes, cremation has taken place. A Memorial Service will be held at Real Hope Christian Assembly, Deep River on Saturday, June 1 at 10:00 am. Interment Service to follow at the Deep River Community Cemetery. In memory of Jordan, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society or a charity of your choice would be greatly appreciated. Funeral arrangements entrusted to the Valley Funeral Home, Deep River.
