At the Pembroke Regional Hospital on Monday, March 8, 2021, Margo McIntyre (nee Currie) at the age of 79 years. Beloved wife of Ian McIntyre of Deep River. Loving mother of Murray McIntyre and his wife Shelley Brown, and Andrea McIntyre and her husband Christopher Heaney, both of Ottawa. Cherished grandmother of William and Lydia McIntyre. Dear sister of Drew Currie and his late wife Janet and Allan Currie and his wife Eileen both of Edinburgh. Also survived by 3 sisters-in-law, Isa Currie and Eileen Currie, both of Edinburgh and Liz McIntyre and her husband Fergie of Balerno.

A private family service will be conducted at Valley Funeral Home, Deep River. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. In memoriam donations to the Deep River and District Hospital Foundation would be gratefully appreciated.

Margo emigrated to Canada and fully immersed herself into Canadian and Deep River culture, and always remained proud of her Scottish roots and maintained strong ties with family in Edinburgh. She was the proudest Mother, Nana and Auntie.

Always civic and community minded, Margo was involved with the Brownies organization and later became a longstanding volunteer with her good friend and teacher Sheila McCarthy in her primary school classes. The Whistle Stop also benefited from her volunteer service. Many children in Deep River remember her fondly as one of the “Scottish ladies who talked funny” and gave out candy at the Village Pharmacy. At the Deep River Alternative School, she thrived as she supported everyone with her love and strength. Margo was the anchor there, treating all fairly but firmly, with positive and encouraging words.

Margo was generous, selfless, loyal, loving and compassionate. She always had friendly words of support for anyone who needed it. For this reason, she has been described by many as a ‘second’ or ‘bonus’ Mom.
