Margo emigrated to Canada and fully immersed herself into Canadian and Deep River culture, and always remained proud of her Scottish roots and maintained strong ties with family in Edinburgh. She was the proudest Mother, Nana and Auntie.

Always civic and community minded, Margo was involved with the Brownies organization and later became a longstanding volunteer with her good friend and teacher Sheila McCarthy in her primary school classes. The Whistle Stop also benefited from her volunteer service. Many children in Deep River remember her fondly as one of the “Scottish ladies who talked funny” and gave out candy at the Village Pharmacy. At the Deep River Alternative School, she thrived as she supported everyone with her love and strength. Margo was the anchor there, treating all fairly but firmly, with positive and encouraging words.

Margo was generous, selfless, loyal, loving and compassionate. She always had friendly words of support for anyone who needed it. For this reason, she has been described by many as a ‘second’ or ‘bonus’ Mom.
