Marjory Walker Obituary

Walker (nee Bruce), Jessie “Marjory”
Born:  11 May 1923; Walleroo cottage, Downfield, Dundee, Scotland
Marjory passed peacefully at home on 12 June, 2019 at the age of 96.

Predeceased by her husband, David Henry Walker (1919-1987) former Deputy Mayor of Deep River and Renfrew County Deputy Reeve, former member of Library Board, Hospital Board, Pembroke & Area Airport Board, and Deep River Science Academy.  Also predeceased by her sister Ann Elizabeth Mills (George William) of Dundee, Scotland

Marjory worked at the Telecommunications Research Establishment (TRE) at Malvern Boys College, England, on the Microwave Radar Project during WWII and attended the University College Dundee (1941 - St, Andrews) for Maths and Physics.  She then worked at the Ministry of Aircraft Production in September 1943.  When WWII ended, she received her honours degree at St. Andrews.

David and Marjory met while working at Atomic Energy Research Establishment (AERE) in Harwell, England, were married in Dundee in 1952 and honeymooned in Paris.  They sailed on the Empress of Canada that same year, arriving in Montreal and finally settled on Frontenac Crescent in 1957.  This became her home until she passed.  Marjory volunteered at the Deep River Library, was a supply teacher at Mackenzie and also a member of the Deep River Orchestra.  Her passion was playing bridge and she lamented that the cards were getting worse in the last few months.

Mother to Bruce Walker (Regina Breza-Walker, deceased) of Deep River and Graeme Walker (John Espinosa) of Newmarket.  Mother-in-law to Roberta Longley and Barb Till of Newmarket.
Grandmother to five: Peter (Sachil Patel), Amalia (Joshua Boorsma), Andrew (Bridget Kirkland), Erin (Tilo McCallister), and Katherine (Ibrahim Hatia). ‘Spare’ grandmother to Kevin Till (Rachel Joseph), Martin Till (Lisa Graham), recently married Erica Till (Antony Rodriguez).
