MARY BEATRICE THERESE HUGHES 

Passed away suddenly on August 31, at the age of 71. Predeceased by her parents Philip and Kathleen Hughes, her sister Philippa and brothers Vincent and Peter. She is survived by her sister Sheila Doyle (Os) and her brother George (Fiona), and her nieces Elizabeth, Kathleen, Emma and Madeleine, and her nephews Philip (Yvonne), William, and Michael.

Mary lived an exceptional life of service both in religious community and in nursing. She was kind, generous, warm and loving. She was an exceptional friend who will be fondly remembered.

Mary was a lifelong lover of cats and dogs. Her current animal family affectionately known as The Clan: Katie, Penny, Doctor Finley, Pippa, Felix, Felicity, Hosannah, Heidi, and Sophia, will miss her tender care.

Respecting Mary’s request, cremation has taken place. A Funeral Mass will be held on Friday September 9 at 11 a.m. in Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church, followed by a reception in the Parish Hall. Interment at Mount Hope Cemetery in Toronto will be at a later date.  In memoriam donations to Our Lady of Good Counsel Church or the Ontario Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals would be gratefully appreciated. Funeral arrangements entrusted to the Valley Funeral Home, Deep River.
