(Mary) Hélène Burke Obituary

The death has occurred of Hélène Burke (nee: McCormack) who passed away suddenly at her home in Deep River on Sunday, November 23, 2025 at the age of 74 years. 

Loving mother to Eamon Burke of Deep River, Shivaan Burke and her husband Curtis Jackson of Peterborough, and cherished Granny to Josie Jackson-Burke. Survived by Brian Burke whose deep care for Hélène and the family they shared remains steadfast. Dear sister of Hilary McCormack and her husband Victor Duret, Michael McCormack, and Louis McCormack (predeceased) and his wife Leni McCormack. Daughter of Mary and Michael (Mick) McCormack, and niece, Auntie, cousin and friend to many.

Born in Mullingar, County Westmeath, Ireland, Hélène emigrated with her family to live in Deep River in 1967 at the age of 16. She led a rich life characterized by a penchant for learning, a love of language, a passion for music, a zest for politics, loyal friendships, a mischievous nature and a wit that was as sharp as her intellect.

Many sincere thanks are due to the kind home healthcare professionals who visited and helped Hélène of late. Respecting Hélène’s wishes cremation has taken place and all are warmly invited to celebrate her life with a memorial at Valley Funeral Home in Deep River on Saturday December 6th at 11:45am, followed by a reception with a light lunch at the Bear’s Den from 1pm to 4pm. In true style, everyone is welcome.
