Michael Blore

It is with deep gratitude for a life well-lived that the family of Michael Blore announces his passing on August 6, 2026, at the age of 91. Michael was predeceased by his beloved wife of 66 years, Sheila, and his sister, Kate Rouse.

Michael will be remembered fondly as the devoted father of Kathryn Baird (Ivan) and Judith Plante (Daniel); attentive older brother to Jennifer Bateman; and loving grandfather of Derek Baird (Claire), Julie Nika (Lampros), Melanie Plante (Mitch), and Sarah Plante (Patrick). In recent years, to his great joy, he was also blessed with six great-grandchildren: Jacqueline, Iris, Ginny, Theodore, Felix, and Faye

Michael was born and raised in Salford, England, to parents Simon Hubert and Phyllis Harriet Blore (nee Dawson).

After meeting Sheila Hollingworth at their church youth group, the couple soon fell in love and were married at Saint James Hope Church in Salford in 1957. Then, in 1960, the young couple made the bold decision to emigrate to Canada where they raised their daughters.

As a trained engineer, Michael enjoyed his work but his many hobbies and passions outside his work were what kept his life exciting. A talented vocalist, Michael sang in several barbershop groups and local musicals and his skill at whistling whole songs was envied by many. Michael enjoyed lawn bowling, playing bridge, creating beautiful cutting boards and furniture at the wood working shop as well as being an active lay reader at Saint Barnabas. He enjoyed weekly suppers at Longshots with friends, and never missed the daily Wordle competition with his daughters and granddaughters.

Respecting Michael’s wishes cremation has taken place and a Funeral will be held on Saturday, August 15 at Saint Barnabas Church at 11am with a light lunch reception to follow. Mike’s kindness, resilience, wit and dedication to family and friends will be fondly remembered by all who were lucky enough to know him.

In lieu of flowers, donations to the Meals On Wheels program from the North Renfrew Long Term Care Centre, Deep River in Michael’s memory would be appreciated.
