Pearson Crigger Obituary

CRIGGER, Martin Pearson,

Pearson passed away peacefully showing great strength after a 3 month battle with cancer at the Abbotsford B.C. Regional Hospital and Cancer Centre on April 5, 2023, with his special first cousin Lorna Marchuk holding his hand and his mother live streaming from Ontario.

Pearson was the cherished son of Pauline Rantz and step father Bob Rantz, and Murray Crigger (d. 2007) and stepmother Carmen (d.).

Dearly loved brother of Brent Crigger (Chalk River) and Bobby Crigger (Lori) (Toronto).  Predeceased by brother Randy Crigger (2021). Step brother of Cathy Godin (Peter) (Ottawa) and Rob Rantz (the Yukon).

Much loved uncle of Bryce, Cameron (Corey), and Makenna Crigger.  Step uncle of Darcie Godin (Alex) and Riley Godin (Sara) aunts and cousins across Canada and the U.S. too numerous to name.

Pearson grew up in Chalk River, graduating from Mackenzie High School in Deep River, eventually settling in British Columbia in later years. An avid supporter of thorough bred racing.  Prior to relocating to British Columbia, Pearson was employed at Atomic Energy Ltd., Chalk River.  Participating and love of hockey and baseball were central to his life in the Valley.

A Mass in the presence of ashes will be held at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, Chalk River on Monday, May 29, 2023 at 11:00 A.M. with Father  Moses Nwosu officiating.  Interment will follow at Forest View Cemetery, with reception to follow at the Lions Club hall, Chalk River.

We extend special thanks for the excellent care and compassion shown to Pearson by the doctors and nurses floor CHAM2 at the Abbotsford Regional Hospital and Cancer Centre, special RPNs, social workers, clergy, friend pastor Chris, and the Salvation Army Centre of Hope, Abbotsford B.C.

A special thanks to his first cousin, Lorna Marchuk (daughter of Evelyn Crigger Smith) who spent many days live streaming with his mother and at the time of his passing.

Thanks also to Veronica Tod of the Henderson Funeral Home in Abbotsford B.C. and to Murray Griese of Valley Funeral Home, Father Patrick Dobec of Our Lady of Sorrows, Petawawa and Father Moses Nwosu of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, Chalk River, for the support, empathy and kindness shown by them at this difficult time.
