Ronald Taylor Obituary

On the evening August 1, 2025, Ron passed away peacefully at home with his loving family by his side.

Ron was born into the close-knit farming community of North Fife, Scotland along with his brothers James (Mac), Alexander (Sandy), William (Bill), and Arthur and lifelong friends including Jim Anderson, friend for more than 75 years.  Ron was blessed with a very happy and carefree childhood on the MacLaughlan family farm where he learned the many skills that stood him in good stead throughout his life. In Fife, he attended Creich Primary School in Luthrie followed by high school at Bell Baxter in Cupar.

Ron met the love of his life, Kathleen, at the Valentine’s Day Dance he and his brother Arthur put on as a Cancer Research fundraiser at Luthrie Hall in 1963.  Ron and Kathleen married in 1965 and were soon blessed with three sons: Neil, Ross, and Alan.

In 1966, Ron and his father Alex took over the dairy section of the Creich Farm, bottling and delivering milk throughout the area in the wee hours of the morning.  After completing the dairy chores, Ron would hit the books to complete his degree and post-grad with the Dundee College of Commerce.

In search of opportunity and adventure, Ron and his family moved to Canada in 1978, followed closely by his parents, who also made their home in Deep River.  Ron enjoyed more than twenty years working with the Town of Deep River, where he had the friendship of his working colleagues and of the many summer students who passed through.

Ron loved life and had many interests including golf (always meticulous with his score), music, woodworking, photography, golf, wine-making, flower-growing, golf, birds, crosswords, and…GOLF!  He also loved the dogs of his life; Lassie, Toby, Oreo, and grand-dog Gus.

Ron is lovingly remembered by his wife, Kathleen, sons Neil (Amy), Ross (Raewyn), and Alan (Sally), and grandchildren Ethan (Mariah) and Emma of Deep River and Aveline and Karis in British Columbia.  He is fondly remembered by the MacKenzie family of Gairloch, Scotland as well as nephews, nieces, and cousins in Canada, UK, and New Zealand.

The family are so very grateful for the wonderful care that Ron received throughout his healthcare journey, especially for Dr. Ceponis and Nurse Tina, and the Ontario Health at Home Team, including nurses Rebekka, Nick, and Shelby.  They are also grateful for the visits and phone calls from many dear friends during his illness, including Mike and Andy, who came and sat with him.

A celebration of Ron’s life to follow at a later date.

With Love, Ron’s Family.
