At Deep River, on Thursday, January 30, 2025. Tom Chapman age 76 years. Beloved husband of Joy Chapman (nee Goldsmith). Loving father of Dan Chapman and his wife Chloe and the late Tom Chapman Jr. and his wife Jordana Bennett. Cherished grandfather of Logan, Cole, Wynn, Elora, Conlin, Max and Sofie. Also survived by brother Herb Chapman and his wife Kathy, sisters Cathy Fertile-Chapman and Judy Pigeau and her husband Peter, and brother-in-law Duane Dickinson. Predeceased by sister Margaret Dickinson. Tom also leaves behind many nieces and nephews in southern Ontario and the Ottawa Valley.
Tom was a long-time employee of Gerdau Ameristeel in Whitby Ontario and was a dedicated hockey and baseball player and an avid outdoorsman in his younger years. In retirement, he could be found in his workshop, on the golf course, and if not actually fishing, at least telling fish tales.
Tom's love for and pride in his family was never a secret. And with his generous spirit and outgoing nature, he leaves behind many friends in both his hometown of Oshawa and his new home in Deep River. He was friend to many, a loving husband, a devoted father and a good man. He will be missed.
Respecting Tom’s wishes cremation will take place. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, May 24 from 1-4 pm at the Deep River Golf Club. In memory of Tom, donations to the Deep River and District Health-Closer to Home Campaign would be gratefully appreciated. Funeral arrangements entrusted to the Valley Funeral Home, Deep River.
