Wilfred Charles Harris
Peacefully passed away on June 29, 2021 in his 86th year with family close by. Wilf leaves behind his loving son Tim and cherished grandkids Kyle and Ava. He is survived by his beloved sister Norma Ford of Brantford. Wilf now joins the love of his life, Mary Lou who passed in 2004. Wilf is also predeceased by his parents, Charles and Lottie “Dolly”, his brother George, his twin brother Walt and his beautiful daughter in law Bridgette. Wilf will be missed by many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
At a young age Wilfred served with The Royal Canadian Artillery and from there moved on to a 35-year career with Stelco in the Tin Mill.
Wilf was a kind and generous man who would lend a hand to anyone in need. He devoted much of his time to many service organizations. He was a 4th degree Knight with the Knights of Columbus at Our Lady of Lourdes Church, where he was an avid volunteer with St. Vincent De Paul. He spent many hours in his truck delivering Christmas baskets, toys and various items to families in need. Wilf was a long-time member of St. John’s Ambulance as a volunteer and was awarded the Long Service Medal with them. Wilf was also a longtime member of the Royal Canadian Legion, Branch 163.
When Wilf wasn’t volunteering and helping others he could be found outdoors. He had a great passion for nature and was an avid hunter and fisherman. Whenever he had the chance he was on his boat in pursuit of the elusive record muskie. Wilf had a love for dogs and almost always had one by his side.
A special thanks to the staff at North Renfrew LTC for all of their care and compassion throughout Wilf’s time spent there.
