Zita Mary Valliquette

It is with deep sadness we announce the peaceful passing of our mother. Zita Valliquette (nee Tait) at the Ottawa Heart Institute on Saturday, September 21, 2024 at age of 89 of Renfrew formerly of Deep River. Zita was predeceased by her husband Wayne in 2019.

Loving mother of Patricia Valliquette, Diane, Brian, & Michael. Predeceased by son Robert 2008, daughter Catherine Godsmark, 2022 and granddaughter Rachel 2019. Cherished grandmother of Paul and George. Cherished by son-in-law Fred Godsmark.

She is predeceased by her parents Joseph Tait and Florence McKenna, and her siblings Lawrence, Gerald, Joan, Francis “Pete”, Erma “Peggy”, Irving and Patricia.  Special sister to Rita Flintoff, Alf Tait and Inez McQuirter.  Zita is survived by several nieces, and nephews.

After her retirement from Ontario Hydro in Rolphton, she enjoyed travelling across Europe and Canada. With a natural gift for quilting and sewing, she would spend many hours doing one or the other while watching a baseball or hockey game. She was an active member of the CWL for over 40 years.

As per Zita’s request cremation has taken place. A mass in the presence of Ashes will be held on October 5, 2024 at 11am. Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, Deep River, ON. Interment in the Deep River Community Cemetery.

Luncheon will be served in the parish hall following the service.

A very special thank you to the Renfrew paramedics, and the Ottawa Heart Institute for their compassionate care during her final days/hours. In lieu of flowers donations to the Deep River and District Hospital Foundation would be greatly appreciated.
